Pregnancy Week 39

June 16, 2012

Here we are with just 6 days left till my due date and I can’t help but just want baby girl here now.

In the past week I’ve had a few moments where I though it could be happening but then it’s all stopped and nothing has come of it. On the 14th at 8:50 PM I started getting contractions that hurt a little. They would last anywhere from 45 seconds to 1 minute and they were 3-4 minutes apart. This went on for 20 minutes and just stopped as suddenly as it started. The following day It felt like baby girl had engaged as I could hardly walk or lift my legs, I just had so much pressure which was accompanied by lots of pain when I moved. I think this lasted for around 6 hours in total and then the pain stopped so I’m thinking either she dis-engaged or just got into a more central position.

At 2.30 AM on fathers day I got up to have one of my many toilet trips and it seemed different. It didn’t feel like I had pee’d, I couldn’t stop the flow, it was clear and had no smell. I went back to bed thinking it could have been my water breaking. I think I stayed awake for about an hour to see if anything happened, every now and then going to a little walk up and down the stairs but then I got back into bed as I though I would need all the energy I can save. We woke up at 8 AM and still nothing had started to happen so I phoned the labour ward just to ask what there policy was with regards to how long they want you to wait before you go in if you don’t get contractions after your water goes. The lady I spoke to said it was more than likely that I had just pee’d. I tried to explain that my pee was slightly yellow in colour and a little smelly but she wouldn’t have any of it.

Long story short baby girl seems to be happy inside as doesn’t want to come out yet. I have to admit that each time I get a twinge I do get a little excited and wonder if we will have her soon.

As for my pregnancy I feel amazing, I sleep so well at night and have loads of energy during the day. I haven’t really had any more food cravings although I am still very much looking forward to having some smoked salmon. My hips and body have stopped hurting which is wonderful, I think that’s why I can sleep through the night again (apart from the toilet breaks). Still no signs of heartburn, I’m guessing I won’t get any at this point so it’s really nice to think back and know that I’ve had none for the entire pregnancy.

Looks like my camera is finally on it’s was…yey!!

Once I go into labour I will start posting more on Facebook and Twitter with updates. Please follow me there.

Fingers crossed baby will show soon!
