Our 10th Anniversary

September 30, 2013

Last Thursday was Will’s and my 10th dating anniversary.  It’s nuts how fast the years seem to have gone by.

We had a little anniversary get away all planned out and my mum was kind enough to come to our house and tay with the kids for the weekend.

Will was at work on Friday so I set about to cleaning the house all ready for my mum to come and stay. I packed our bags, Will came home, mum arrived and off we set on our drive.

On the way to our hotel Will said that he wanted to stop by a mall so we could get a few things – how was I to know that he was planning on spoiling me rotten with a new iPhone 5c and some lovely new lingerie…

Once finished on our shopping trip we were back in the car and only a short while away from our hotel. We stayed in a Hilton Hotel and you could really tell, there was something much different than a lot of other hotels that we have stayed in…I really wish I’d taken a photo of the bathroom (to die for) but unfortunately it slipped my mind.

Our first night (as we got there late) was pretty much over by the time we got there but we did crack open a bottle of champagne, relax and talk for hours (my first drink in 2 and a half years!)

We woke up to a full breakfast where we could choose from a long list of things such as egg, bacon, sausage, beans, hash browns, toast, fresh fruit, cereal, muffins, croissants, an array of drinks and so much more.

Next we set off to explore and find somewhere nice to go for the day. We ended up getting a little lost, driving in circles round roundabouts and making our way back to the hotel to destress and make get ready for our evening ahead.

We had booked a table at Frankie and Bennys for dinner (the first time either of us had been there) OMG, was it delicious..??! YES, yes it was. I had the most amazing, most tender lamb shank i’ve ever eaten and it was accompanied by a really yummy mash potato and some veggies in gravy. Will had sweet cured bacon steaks that were topped with a fried egg, served with mushrooms, a roasted tomato, house fries and a fresh watercress garnish.

We then went to see White House Down – I don’t want to give anything away about it but need to say it’s an awesome movie!

By the time the movie had ended it was around 11.15pm so we drove back to the hotel and had a few drinks and cuddles up for a while. We must have been tired as it wasn’t too long before we both fell asleep and we ended up sleeping in till 10.30. We had breakfast and got showered and left for our drive home where we were eagerly greeted by Luke and Amelia with hugs, kisses and giggles.
