Some of you may know that I recently celebrated my 25th Birthday for which we decided to go away for a romantic weekend while my mum looked after the little ones for us.
After spending a week looking for the perfect place we found DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House which I knew would be absolutely wonderful.
The Hotel
DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House is located just minutes from both junction 20 and 21 of the M5 motorway and is only 30 minutes from Bristol city centre, not that you would ever know it, with nothing but the countryside in view.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly and engaging staff that gave us our door card and told us where we would find out room. Did I mention the deliciously moist chocolate filled cookie we were given (for free may I add)?
Once we reached out room is was pretty clear to see why DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House is one of the South West’s finest four-star, contemporary boutique hotel and spas. Our room was large, spacious and full of light (even with just one curtain open)
In the room we had a wonderful Sweet Dreams Bed which was very soft and cosy with thick feather filled pillows and duvet. The rooms decor was modern and elegant, with textured wall paper and a mirror I wish I could have taken home with me.
Our bathroom was beautiful with tiling covering the walls and floor, a lovely large spare sink and a double shower with the largest shower hear I have ever seen. We even had some yummy citrus scented complementary shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face wash.
Our room was also stocked with a selection of teas, coffees, sugars and milks.
The Food
Each morning we had a large selection to choose from for our breakfast. From fruit and yoghurts, croissants, cakes and toast, salad and cheese to the full English breakfast. We could also have tea, coffee or a variety of juices.
On the night of my birthday we sat down for our meal in The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill. We were handed our A La Carte menus where our eye lingered over exciting range of grilled and roast meats, fish and finest quality steaks.
William chose the Steak Burger and I went for their sirloin steak. Both were delivered timely to our table with crispy thick cut chips, onion rings and salad.
The food was not only beautifully cooked and delectably mouth-watering, it was also presented perfectly. I especially love how Williams mean can on a wooden serving board and how our chips came in little copper pans (such a real treat for the eye as well as the taste-buds).
We didn’t have a desert as we were going to the cinema where we would end up consuming pots of ice cream but for everyone that does stick around for a lovely ending to their meal there is a stunning range of deserts to choose from including Cambridge Burnt Cream, Classic Bitter Chocolate Mousse, Sherry Trifle Wally Ladd, Fresh Strawberries & Vanilla Ice Cream, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Box Tree Eton Mess which are all £6.60 each. They also have a fabulous Sharing Desert Plate which features Fresh Strawberries, Rice Pudding, Chocolate Brownie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Vanilla Ice Cream and Fresh Fruit Tartlet all for just £12.95.
Club and Spa
One of the largest independent health clubs in the South West, comprising of a gym, heated indoor swimming pool, spa, salon and bistro. We couldn’t wait to have a look around. We started off in the gym where that have a huge range of exercise equipment to use (I was very excited by this – you know I’m into my fitness). We also had a peak at the salon and some of the products they use for their spa treatments.
As the pool was really busy we didn’t want to take any photos but if you do get a chance to go there you will find a wonderful selection of aquatic experiences such as:
Monsoon Showers – Drench yourself in warm rain before you take the plunge…
20m x 9m Heated Swimming Pool – 1.2 m of deep blue serenity
Spa Pool – Under the water muscle massage, with bubbles on the top!
Ice Cold Drench –Literally a wooden bucket of cold water is tipped onto your head! Can you believe it?
Sauna – A quiet, sound-proofed, timber refuge to sweat out those knotty aches and pains…
Steam Room – Laced with aromatherapy essences, the Steam Room enhances your senses and relaxes your mind for a feeling of all-over wellness
