Bodhi and Birch Skincare

May 2, 2014

Does the name Elijah Choo ring any bells? How about his eco-luxury skincare brand Bodhi (now Bodhi and Burch)? If like me, these are pretty new to you (or you haven’t even heard of them) you’re going to wish you had a lot sooner.

Bodhi and Birch Skincare sets out to rethink the relationship between our personal care and well-being routines, and the also the impact they have on the environment. They believe that long-term physical, mental, ethical and spiritual well- being outweigh short-term quick fixes. A healthy body, well cared-for skin and a balanced state of mind indirectly result in a more youthful outlook, helps increase confidence and promote contentment.

With a wide range of products, from Bath & Shower to Beauty Therapy products, all of which are free from harsh synthetics like parabens and sulphates, and do not contain any synthetic colours and fragrances or animal ingredients, (apart from beeswax and honey), there is something for everyone to love.

Today I have a selection of products to share with you:

Cacao Cocoon Lip Treatment Balm

I’m one of those people that find myself getting very dry lips and for the most part I can never find anything that works really well to combat it.

I’ve been using this for a month now and my lips have never been so soft, supple or moisturised in my life (maybe when I was a baby…) this to me is the best ‘holy grail’ of lip balms EVER!

The Cacao Cocoon Lip Treatment Balm is pack full of butters and oils such as Cocoa butter, Murumuru Butter, Illipe Butter, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil and Blackcurrant Seed Oil among others to nourish and protect the lips.

Bodhi Skincare - Cacao Cocoon

It has a really beautiful scent which comes from Vanilla, Spearmint, Chamomile and Cacao Absolute. It’s very light and doesn’t leave any kind of flavour on your lips, it’s just delicately and heavenly calming and uplifting.

The texture is very different to most other lip balms, as the Cacao Cocoon Lip Treatment Balm doesn’t contain any beeswax it doesn’t have that waxy feeling to it, instead it’s light but buttery and melts wonderfully onto and into the lips without leaving them feeling greasy and covered in product.

Oh and how could I not mention the packaging… It comes in a very sleek and stylish black glass pot with a screw top lid. It looks very classy and sits proudly on any surface.

You can buy the Cacao Cocoon Lip Treatment Balm from the Bodhi and Birch website here for £15 for 15g.

Neroli Lucé Revitalising Face Oil

I’m a fan of face oils and I think that they are great for all kinds of skin. Many people worry that it will make the greasy and even oilier but honestly – it won’t. Do I even need to mention the wonderful things good face oils can do for your skin..?

The ingredients such as Tunisian Neroli Oil, Frankincense, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Sea Buckthorn Oil contain vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids to help revive a lustrous complexion, increase elasticity, boost resilience and rebalance the skin’s natural hydration system.

The oil itself is a deep yellow colour (for any artists out there I’d say something like a middle chrome water colour). The oil is very light but also think at the same time (it won’t’ run off your face before it’s rubbed in). Once you do rub it in it absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling supple, moisturised and relaxed while looking brightened, rejuvenated and hydrated.

Bodhi Skincare - Neroli Luce

The scent is so wonderfully relaxing with Neroli and Frankincense being two of the top notes. I have to say, I always sleep so much better when I use this before bed. I like to inhale the scent for a few moments before I apply it.

If I have any left on my fingers after applying it I like to rub it into my hands, making them not only smell amazing but also leaving them feeling silky soft too.

Again the packaging is just lovely. There is something I really like about the sleek black glass. The face oils have a handy little cap (not a lid but a cool clip over part) that covers over the pump so there is no way you could accidently pump it (perfect for travelling).

You can buy the Neroli Lucé Revitalising Face Oil for £32 for 15 ml on the Bodhi and Birch website here. They also have a 5ml sample size for £12 available here.

Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil

The Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil works to refine, renew and give an even-tone with a youthful glowing radiance to the skin while also incorporation anti-ageing benefits with Bulgarian Damask Rose Otto, Organic Moroccan Argan Oil and Rosehip Seed Oil.

This is the perfect face oil if you have any dry patches and/or if you have any fine lines and it really targets them to transform your skin by restoring moisture balance, improving skin’s elasticity, boosting skins collagen, smoothing out wrinkles and also lightening freckles.

Bodhi Skincare - Desert Rose

The scent is again ‘beautiful’ with Strawberry Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Rose Flower Oil and Bitter Orange Oil it smells wonderfully citrusy and sweet with the delicate rose scent to finish. (if there were a perfume like this I would wear it every day).

You can buy the Desert Rose Rejuvenating Face Oil for £38 for 15 ml on the Bodhi and Birch website here. They also have a 5ml sample size for £14 available here.

I am so in love with the Bodhi and Birch products that I’ve tried so far and really want to try out the Assemblage Bath & Shower Gift Set and Rosemary Chi Himalayan Detox Salt Scrub next as I’ve such heard wonderful things about them both!

Have you tried anything from Bodhi and Birch Skincare before? What do you like the best?
