Clean Eating With Nākd Bars

August 11, 2013

While I have been trying to get fitter and healthier I have had to push myself to cut out anything sweet, until I found these. Nākd bars are delicious and nutritious while keeping that yummy sweet element too.

“Nākd bars and snacks are a great way to eat nutritious, healthy food without compromising on taste! Our snack bars are made from yummy natural ingredients such as raw fruits and nuts which are smooshed together for you into a handy bar. Wheat and dairy free, with no added sugars or hidden extras. Get Nākd today!”

Each bar comes individually wrapped in a brightly coloured sleeve. Most of the bars start with a base of dates, cashews and raisins although there are some other staple ingredients in some bars such as almonds and pecans. They all have natural flavourings to give each it’s own special taste.

The bars themselves have a fairly soft, chewy texture but I wouldn’t say it’s in anyway sticky like so many other fruit bars out there. They’re also really filling and kept me satisfied till my next meal.

The bars we have tried are:

Rhubarb & Custard

I’ve always found rhubarb quite tart but this wasn’t at all. It was actually quite sweet but subtle and combined with the custard it’s a win win!

Pecan Pie

Mmm…this had some serious nuttiness to it. I love the combination of dates, pecans and almonds – super yummy!

Cocoa Orange

Imagine a terry’s chocolate orange but only a whole lot better for you! I really love this flavour. Both the chocolate and orange go wonderfully with the slight nutty aftertaste.

Ginger Bread

Not being a huge fan of ginger I was quite taken aback by this bar. the flavour is so subtle and just makes your taste buds tingle. It’s so much nicer than I expected!

Keep an eye out for more goodness from Natural Balance Foods but for now be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclosure: I was sent these bars free of charge for the purpose of this review. All opinions are 100% my own.
