Clean Eating – What Is It?

January 8, 2014

As we all know (or should know) food plays a HUGE part is getting fit and being healthy! Without good nutritious food it will be pretty hard to reach most fitness goals.

I’m going on a massive health and fitness lifestyle change (and taking the family with me) so wanted to get all the information I could on Clean Eating so that we can all be putting the best into our bodies.

I wanted to talk about a few things a read and just give you a little in-site into what Clean Eating is all about and how to go about it.

Eat-Clean

Eating clean is all about sticking to wholesome, natural foods [if it grows on a tree, bush, plant or vine then it’s great!] and steering clear of foods that come packaged in a box, or have an ingredient list that you can’t pronounce

NOwhite’ breads, pasta and rice. Instead go for brown rice, whole wheat and other whole grains such as:

Beans: chickpeas, Black beans, Kidney beans, Pinto beans

Grains: Quinoa, Brown Rice, Barley, Oats – Steel cut is best

REMEMBER – Meat is not our enemy. Lean meats are a fantastic source of protein, which creates lean muscle and keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

Cut back or stop having refined grains, added sugars, salt and unhealthy fats – this alone will make such a difference.

I always like to keep a pack of Chia Seeds and Flax Seed Meal in the cupboard – mostly to sprinkle on yoghurts and fruit. They are both delicious and extremely good for you, so USE THEM!

We all know that calcium is important for healthy bones, teeth, hair and nails but how about incorporating these milks into your diets: Almond milk, Rice milk, Hemp milk and Hazelnut milk (all unsweetened of course!)

WaterWaterWaterWater!!! – Drink as much as you can, not only is it good for your body but it’s great for your skin too.

Eat smaller meals 5-6 times a day – yes guys, I’m telling you to eat 6 times a day (but please, small portions – OK!)
