Driving in Europe – What you Need to Know

July 3, 2013

I don’t know about you but I sometimes think that driving holidays are just so much easier than getting on a plane. I know how odd that must sound, but have you ever lost your luggage on a driving holiday? Have you ever had to scan your bags in before putting them in your boot? I didn’t think so!

Of course driving holidays can also have their stressful moments. Before you’ve even started to plan a route, there’s a number of things that need to be considered – namely, the risk of getting fined if you don’t adhere to certain rules.

The Road Traffic rules of safety on the road are slightly different than in other countries, though of course many things are the same. Sticking to speed limits, wearing a seatbelt and driving with consideration for other road users is a given. Sometimes our European neighbours are a little stricter with things, however.

I recently came across an infographic by autoweb about driving holidays in Europe that I thought would be an interesting share with the summer holidays coming up. It gives a quick overview of the kind of offences you can expect to be penalised for in European countries.
