One thing that made me extra excited when I found that our baby was going to be a girl was that I would be able to put her in pretty dresses and use clips and bows in her hair…is every mummy of a girl like that or was it just me??
This is where Fairy Patch Boutique come into the picture. Fairy Patch Boutique is ran and owned by Christina Bowman and this is her story:
I am an artist and crafter by nature. I have always enjoyed making my own birthday and holiday cards, and for many years I had scrapbook fever. Having a vision, cultivating it, and watching it unfold before my eyes is quite a magical experience. The idea of making hair clips seemed natural.
I started The Fairy Patch Boutique in August of 2009 when my daughter, Taylor, was 2 years old. As her hair began to come in, I needed a little something to accessorize her outfits and to take care of that wisp of hair that kept getting in her eyes. After a few failed attempts of finding simple and cute clips for her (it seemed like everything in department stores and baby stores were all the same), I started making them myself. When other moms at the park started asking me where I purchased my daughter’s hair clips, I began to realize the need for unique hair clips for toddlers. Then I discovered Etsy, and I fell in love. My husband helped me setup my shop, and the rest is history. I was very intimidated at first; having my homemade hair clips for the world to see was nerve-wracking. When I made my first sale one month later, I knew I was hooked.
Business started out very slow. There was a lot of trial and error as I worked out my manufacturing technique. For the first 2 years, I only made a few sales. During this time, I also had my son, so I wasn’t as involved with my shop. It was actually in 2012 that things really started to take off. When I introduced the mini snap clips, sales started to increase dramatically. These clips truly stay put in a baby’s fine hair. I really wished I would have had these when my daughter was a baby!
To date, I have made over 700 sales which amounts to several thousand hair clips delivered worldwide. I have sales in Israel, Australia, Canada, France, UK, Thailand, Norway, and of course all over the US. I pride myself in customer satisfaction, and I have 100% positive feedback. In fact, the comments from satisfied customers are a profound compliment.
As a mother of two and a 5th grade teacher, The Fairy Patch Boutique is my third full time job. I wake up at 4am to fill orders, and I love it! Because of my thirst for art, I never feel like The Fairy Patch Boutique is a burden or weight. In fact, getting lost in my craft soothes my mind and charges my battery. My husband’s support throughout this has been amazing. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without him!
My daughter is now moving on to 1st grade which means she is no longer in the hair clip stage. It makes me a little sad because she was the reason this all started. She’s bigger now and is moving on to head bands. I guess The Fairy Patch Boutique will be expanding soon.

We love the clips that Christina sent us. They have been so useful and really do keep Amelia’s hair out of her eyes and without slipping out themselves. To tell you the truth…I even put one in my hair the other day but I didn’t look half as cute as Amelia does with them in. I keep getting compliments and being asked where I got them from (Christina, you may have some big orders to fill coming your way).
I think they are really beautiful and so are all of Christina’s other clips. You should really go and check them out and because we all know you won’t be able to resist, Christina is offering 20% off for for you all, just use coupon code is SWEETDEAL20 ( expires at the end of August, 2013 )
