Gousto Simply Cook

October 30, 2012

Gousto is a great way to have fresh quality meals without having to go to the shops. Our ingredients arrived in a sturdy box with sustainable insulation and ice sheets which kept everything nice and cold. Our meals where tasty and satisfying with just the right amount of meat and vegetables.

Overall I think Gousto is great if you don’t have time to plan meals but still want a varied and healthy diet. I  think it would be helpful to some families and those that work long hours.

How it works

Gousto is a subscription service where you can choose to receive between 2 and 4 recipes per week, available for 2, 4 or 6 people. Each week, you log on and select from a regularly updated collection of recipes, and ingredients are delivered to you on Wednesday or Thursday depending on where you live.

Unlike many other subscription services there is no minimum duration (with a 7 day notice period) and you can place your subscription on hold at any time which is perfect for when you go on holidays.

Prices start from £42 a week for 3 meals for 2 people for a Gourmet box with meals that include meat, fish and £39 per week for 3 meals for 2 people for a Vegetarian Box.

Once you are at the checkout area you can also add some yummy cookies to your box…trust me, you should try some!!

The Gousto Story

Gousto was started in 2011 by two friends who share a passion for food and cooking. In their previous lives, Timo and James loved cooking but didn’t have much time to go to various grocery shops. They found it difficult to cook recipes from online databases or follow cook-along TV shows. Ready-meals from supermarkets do the job but the quality isn’t great, they have lots of additives, and they get boring very easily. One day, James and Timo decided that there must be some way to make life easier and the idea for Gousto was born. The first recipes were offered at market stalls and from there the concept has grown into what you see today. Of course, all of Timo and James’ friends are Gousto guinea pigs. Today, Gousto has a team of professional chefs making sure that the recipes cover all cuisines and styles.

You can check out Gousto on their website where they also have a blog plus you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
