I love all things that glitter, but have a special passion for watches. For me this passion started when I was a teenager when I got a Swatch for Christmas. I still have fond memories of that watch and blame it for the fact, these days; I cannot walk past a jeweller’s shop without going in.
The other day a friend of mine was looking for a watch servicing in Bishops Stortford. She didn’t find what she was looking for, so I volunteered to look for it for her. Finding a jeweller that offers this service was surprisingly easy. I found a local firm more or less straight away and they had a great site with a huge selection of watches.
Two hours later, the phone rang. It was my friend wondering if I had found anything. I had gotten totally lost browsing the shop’s website looking at all the new watches. Having wasted a couple of hours, I thought a post about watches was in order. That way I could call those two hours research.
Ideally, I would like to own a watch for every occasion, so I can choose the best one to match the occasion as well as my outfit. Here are some great watches that lend themselves to being worn with a range of different outfits.
The Bulova Diamond Watch
This very simple looking watch is made from stainless steel. It has a simple black face with four time points. The twelve o clock time point is a small diamond. This small and classic looking watch should stand the test of time and could be a good watch to pass on to the next generation.
The Bering Time
Bering are not a big watch company, but they still make nice watches. Their watches are slim line and feature woven bands. If you wear the watch loose, it can double as a bracelet.
The Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic
This watch is an unusual one. For a woman’s watch it is quite large. The face is 37mm across and there are tiny gems set all around the watch face. This is sure to be a classic, but it is an expensive watch.
The Breguet Héritage Phase de Lune
The Phase de Lune has only recently been released, so it cannot yet be called a classic, but I think it definitely has the potential to be considered such in the future. It has a woven leather strap that holds in place an oblong watch face with curved sides.
The numbers are Roman numerals and set into the top left hand side of the face is a beautiful moon phase dial. This watch is not going to appeal to everyone, but I like it.
The Patek Philippe Ladies Complicated Watch
Perhaps my favourite watch is one I am never likely to own. The Patek Philippe Ladies Complicated watch costs close to $100,000. It is a beautiful piece of bling made from rose gold. The face is surrounded by diamonds and the winder is also encrusted with diamonds.
For now I am sticking with my current watch collection, but new watches are definitely on my birthday and Christmas lists.
