With Christmas nearly upon us, we’re all starting to think about how we’re going to improve on last year’s spectacular decorations. From buying a bigger tree to getting an inflatable Santa for your front lawn, the possibilities are endless. And here are some fantastic tips as to how you can make sure this Christmas is one to remember:
Opt for Traditional Decorations
Instead of opting for contemporary decorations this year, why not bring back your childhood with some traditional decorations? Choose festive colours such as reds, golds and greens and decorate your tree with elegant white fairy lights. Then finish this off in style by putting up lights in other places around your home and by hanging some stockings by the fireplace.
You could even create your own Christmas village, lighting it up with LED tea lights to capture the magic. And finally, don’t forget some mistletoe over your door!
Decorate the Exterior of Your Home
To really brighten up your entire street, why not decorate the outside of your home this year? Opt for a wreath on your front door, buying one from a high-street retailer or crafting your own using fresh greens and pinecones. Then accentuate the features of your home by hanging lights around them. Simple twinkling lights can really add to that warm, cosy feeling, especially when they’re placed around traditional features such as sash windows from Mighton Products.
Add Those Finishing Touches
Last but by no means least; you’ll need to finish off your home with those all-important final touches. These include placing candles on your windowsills to add to that warm glow and the inviting look of your home from the outside. Consider using LED ones in rooms where candles will be unattended and opt for scented ones in your living room and kitchen.
You can also go one step further by decorating other rooms in your home, choosing red and green soft furnishings (e.g. cushions and throws) to really add to the overall festive feel. Make your own door hangings by using red and green ribbons that are adorned with bells and create your own table centrepiece by using red and green candles with other Christmassy touches. Finally, don’t forget a poinsettia plant as this will bring the outside in whilst adding to the overall look and feel you’ve created in your home this festive season.
